Wheatstone 36 key Tenor English concertina. This is a six sided instrument with flat ebony ends, metal buttons and steel reeds. It is tuned to concert pitch. Currently in the workshop for re-padding. Serial number 30768 shows it was one of a pair, along with 30769, of “special” models made in 1925. The special features of this model are that it is a similar size to a 56 key tenor treble and the reed chambers are parallel rather than the radial pattern typically used by Wheatstone. The result is that this instrument plays beautifully with a lively response and a full deep sonorous voice.
