Here is a rare thing a Lachenal 40 key CG anglo with metal ends. Two button on the right are sound effects, so practice this is a 38 key. Now fully restored and tuned to concert pitch. The reeds are some of the best I’ve come across in a Lachenal and play with an amazingly loud bright tone and fast response. Woodwork is all in excellent condition and has not required any restoration. The reed pans are hard maple and remarkably well made for a Lachenal.
Serial number is 87023 which will date to the mid 1880s. My guess is that this was a special order with the best build quality available. The metal end plates are in great condition and just needed a clean and polish. Work I’ve done includes all new pads and valves, tuning to concert pitch and cleaning and re-papering the bellows.
