Jeffries 27 key CG anglo probably made in the 1870s or 1880s and in great condition, original bellows with very little signs of wear. I renovated this with and fitted new pads and valves in about 2014. The rosewood ends are free of cracks and with only sign of use being wear of the finish between the buttons. Bone buttons, and a great set of steel reeds tuned to concert pitch. It plays with a wonderful rich dark tone and is beautifully consistent on tone, volume and response across the range of the instrument. There is a left hand thumb button with plays a C drone.
Marked “C Jeffries Maker” on both end frames. Also carries a paper label printed in gold on black with the wording “H Crabb & Son Concertina makers London N1”. This label might have been applied during a visit to the Crabb workshop for repair, or could be original as it is generally believed that early Jeffries concertinas were actually made in the in the Crabb workshop.
