Koch branded Hohner two row, two voice, 8 bass in AD. This would have been built shortly after Hohner took over the Koch factory in 1928/9 using some Hohner parts such as reeds and mechanisms and the rather elegant Koch pressed wood case. It has survived in remarkably good condition for its age. The main casework looks almost new, as do the original bellows straps and left hand strap.
I have approach the renovation of this box very conservatively to make minimal changes to the exterior – just cleaning, replacing a missing bellows corner, and replacing the cloth lining to the treble grill. The pallets have been re-faced, bass buttons bushed and treble button travel limited. All reeds have been cleaned, re-valved, re-waxed and tuned to concert pitch. So it is now in first class playing order.
