Early Crabb CG 27 key anglo with metal ends and bone buttons. It is slightly smaller than “standard” size and measures 5 7/8″ across the flats.Within the last few years it has had new pads and valves, been tuned to concert pitch and fitted with a new set of 7 fold bellows. It is stamped internally with a serial number 8587 on both action boards and on both bellows frames. On the right hand bellows frame is marked Ball Beavon & Co, London, who were a retailer and would have commissioned the instrument from John Crabb.
This anglo is a joy to play, the reed response is superb and the sound sweet and with a great dynamic range. Any anglo player would be delighted with the way this instrument plays. A 30 key anglo of this quality would probably cost getting on for double the price of this one so if you can manage without those few extra buttons this is a bargain.
